Harvest Cooking Class
December 4, 2-4 p.m.
Learn new ways to use pecans, piñons and black-eyed peas in your holiday cooking. Our creative chef is Carol Koenig. Pre-registration is required. $20.
Time Travel by Lantern Light
December 6, 7 and 8, 6-9 p.m.
Spend a very special evening at the museum! Visit us on any or all of these nights and meet different characters from New Mexico’s past including a wandering miner, a trail- weary cattle boss, and a strong-willed cavalry wife. Our third annual living history event brings the past alive!
Enjoy live music, refreshments and children’s crafts from 6 to 9 p.m.
Tours run from 6 to 8 p.m. All tours are outside so please dress warmly.

Fall Lecture Series
December 13, 7 p.m.
Dave DeWitt, one of the foremost authorities on chile peppers and spicy foods, has also written extensively on travel and world history. He will discuss his recently published historical novel, “Avenging Victorio: A Novel of the Apache Insurgency in New Mexico, 1881.” A book signing will follow the lecture. Free.
Cooking with Class

Children’s Holiday Camp
December 21, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Ages 5 to 12
Need time to finish that last-minute shopping? Drop your children off at the museum for a fun-filled day of holiday-themed activities. They will learn how rural people celebrated Christmas in the past, meet a character from history, take a tour of the museum, and create holiday crafts. Pre-registration is required. $25 (Children should bring lunch).
Coming Up: Discover New Mexico’s Past
New to Las Cruces and interested in New Mexico’s heritage or just want to learn more about the history of your state? Dr. Jo Tice Bloom, accomplished historian and adjunct professor at New Mexico State University, will teach a New Mexico history class on Tuesday afternoons from 1:30-4:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 15 and continuing until March 18. Pre-registration is required. $30 ($25 for Foundation members).
