Wood comes alive through sculpture at the Museum of Art

Wood becomes art at “Hylé Expression,” an exhibit by French Artist Pascal, at the Las Cruces Museum of Art, Friday, Dec. 7 through Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008.

Pascal give a free lecture on the exhibit at 11 a.m. on Dec. 8.

“Wood has its own intelligence,” Pascal said. “It knows many things, and it teaches them to me…the final image reflects its innate qualities as well as my own thoughts and feelings.”

Hylé comes from the greek word for “wood.” The exhibit communicates the compelling quality of wood.

Pascal’s work has been featured in a series of solo exhibitions in France and Switzerland. Two of his pieces were recently selected for the 39th Annual National Juried Exhibition at the Palm Springs Art Museum in California.

There is no charge to view the exhibit. The Las Cruces Museum of Art is located at 501 N. Main St. in the Downtown Mall.
