The Southwest Environmental Center announced the 11th annual Raft the Rio (a raft race on the Rio Grande) will be held on Saturday, June 14.

The race begins at the Picacho Bridge, and ends at the Mesilla Bridge. This is a family event, and is open to people of all ages. Prizes will be awarded for: best use of recycled material, most creative, first to finish, least likely to finish (must be floating at the starting line), and the spirit of the river. The winning boats must be home made to win!

There is a pre-registration fee of $10.00 (Same day registration will be $20.00) per raft plus $5.00 per person, after the first two (for sailors 13 years and older). Same day registration will begin at 8:00 a.m. at La Llorona Park. The race begins at 10:00 sharp.
