Harvest Cooking Class

Dec. 1, 2-4 p.m.

This month’s cooking class with Chef Carol Koenig features recipes that include pecans, sweet potatoes, and eggplant. Pre-registration is required. $35.

Exhibit Opening:

Colcha: Embroidered Connections

Dec. 3, 6-8 p.m.

This tradition-rich exhibit features an embroidery method that dates to the 1700s in New Mexico. Colcha, a single and versatile stitch, has succeeded in connecting people of different continents, cultures, and generations. The colorful pieces on exhibit are referred to as colchas, synonymous with the stitch used exclusively to create them. The opening reception is free and includes refreshments.

Stories of Christmas Past: A Living History Evening

Dec. 10, 7 p.m.

The past will come alive in the Museum’s theater with a series of living history performances that focus on New Mexico’s Christmas traditions. Admission is a suggested donation of $2.

A Handcrafted Holiday

Dec. 12, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Spend a fun-filled day at the Museum with your child by creating imaginative decorations and ornaments from natural materials. This workshop is for children 4 and older accompanied by a parent. The cost is $25 for two family members, plus $5 each for additional family members (child or adult). Craft materials will be provided. Participants need to bring a lunch and pre-registration is required.

Coming Soon:

New Mexico History Class

This very popular class, taught by Dr. Jo Tice Bloom, begins in January and ends in March. Participants will have a choice of two different days for this fun and informative weekly class – Wednesdays or Thursdays, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The course is $35 per person and pre-registration is required.
