White Sands National Monument to Waives Entrance Fees on November 11 in Honor of America’s Veterans
Alamogordo, N.M. – White Sands National Monument and other national parks across the United States will not charge entrance fees on Wednesday, November 11, 2009, to honor America’s veterans.
“With the presence locally of Holloman Air Force Base, White Sands Missile Range, and Fort Bliss, we are pleased to offer free entrance to White Sands to honor the brave men and women of America’s military,” said Superintendent Kevin Schneider.
Enjoy this special day at White Sands National Monument by taking a hike in the park, sledding down the dunes, picnicking with your friends and family, or joining a ranger for the one-hour ranger-guided Sunset Stroll. Sunset Strolls currently begin at 4:00 pm at the sign along the dunes drive about five miles from the visitor center.
Visitors with questions may contact the park at 575-679-2599 or visit www.nps.gov/whsa.
