New Mexico Governor Proclaims December 7 Buddy Ritter Day

New Mexico Governor Richardson honored C. W. Buddy Ritter on Tuesday for his 50 years of service in the New Mexico hospitality business by naming December 7 as Buddy Ritter Day in New Mexico. 

The  proclamation from Gov. Richardson was read  by Secretary of Tourism Michael Cerletti at a dinner of the New Mexico Tourism Commission at the Double Eagle Restaurant in Mesilla.

The proclamation stated that Ritter has served seven New Mexico governors on various boards and commissions, most notably as Chairman of the Board of Regents of the Museums of New Mexico. 

Ritter has also served in leadership roles in the New Mexico Lodging Association as well as the New Mexico Restaurant Association and has served New Mexico State University through councils and boards. 

He was named the New Mexico State University’s College of Business Alumnus of the Year, at fund-raiser for the Athletics Department where he offered a yearly scholarship to the School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management.

The proclamation also commended Ritter’s various hotels and restaurants in New Mexico for providing employment for thousands of New Mexicans over the five decades, including a number of current employees with lengths of service for 15 to 25 years.
